Refugee sponsorship

Help us bring this family to Canada

Westminster has decided to sponsor a mother and her family of four children (age 3-19). The family is currently living in Lebanon after fleeing their home in Syria.

The Hamouda family currently lives in Lebanon (35km from Syria and 40km from Israel), awaiting news that they can come to Canada. They are a Christian family. The family speaks Arabic, although the oldest daughter has very strong English skills.

Tahini is the loving mother of this family. She is 36 years old and is described by her daughter as a great mom who is very generous. She is raising her four children on her own. When she lived in Syria she worked at a factory that made clothing.​
Yaman is an 19 year old young women who is in University studying Biomedical Sciences. Yaman has a good grasp of English and communicates well. She loves reading and learning new things!​
Yamen is 18 years old and is in high school right now. He wants to travel when he gets older. Yamen likes working hard and making money!
Salam is 13 years old and is doing well in Grade 7. She is becoming what her sister calls a "crazy teenager! Salam likes being with people and laughing.
Yasmin is the baby of the family, at just 3.5 years old. She is a busy girl who is likes to get into everything. She loves her family and likes to run around.

OUR GOAL OF $55,400

Our Goal of $55,400:
$53,000 raised so far 95%

Westminster has agreed to support with $55,400 over the next two (2) years to aid in their integration into Canada. Westminster has also agreed to find volunteers who are able to assist the family with Canadian living.

The Hamoudas are currently filling in the paperwork required to complete the process as a refugee family. Our team here is also working to complete the paperwork on our end.

Meet our fundraising goal of $55,400.00 to financially support the Hamouda's as their family of five move from Lebanon in Syria to Woodstock, ON, Canada.

Await the news that the paperwork is approved and we can bring the Hamouda family to Canada!

Assist the Hamouda family with transitioning their life to a new country here in Canada.

Curries United Church graciously donated $9,550.53 towards Westminster's goal of bringing this Syrian Refugee to Canada! After the decision to close their building, Curries UC sought out ways to help give new life. When one door closes, another door opens.

Thank you to everyone who supported the fundraiser at the Thamesford Community Egg Hunt & Easter Sunday morning breakfast! Together we were able to raise over $500.00 towards this initiative.
