As we continue on our journey through the Lenten wilderness, follow Jesus as he lives his 40 days in the desert. Be open to what emotions today’s illustration invokes for you, what details catch your eye, and consider why you might be affected by it in this way.

Then, to go deeper, if it’s helpful, contemplate each of the following questions, allowing time to fully answer each one:

“If you’re the Son of God, throw yourself from this tower of the Temple and the angels will save you.” Have you put God to the test? Did you promise to do one thing if God would just provide another? Have you ever made your faith dependent on God doing what you want? Are you ever just comfortable that “God’s will be done”? How does it make you feel to depend on God with that kind of faith? Is it surprising that trusting God without getting our own way helps us Never Give Up? Whenever you notice something not going your way today, quietly pray, “Thy will be done.”
