As we continue on our journey through the Lenten wilderness, follow Jesus as he lives his 40 days in the desert.
Be open to what emotions today’s illustration invokes for you, what details catch your eye, and consider why you might be affected by it in this way.
Then, to go deeper, if it’s helpful, contemplate each of the following questions, allowing time to fully answer each one:
And just when you think you can handle no more, true temptation comes. Do you see temptation coming? Or does it sneak up on you? Does it keep its distance or does it come in close? How do you awaken to it when you realize it’s there? Will you fight it or give in? Will anyone else see you give in, if you do? Will God know? Will you feel shamed? Will it be hard to keep saying, “Never Give Up”? Name one temptation today and decide now not to let it get the better of you . . . today at least.
