As we continue on our journey through the Lenten wilderness, follow Jesus as he lives his 40 days in the desert.
Be open to what emotions today’s illustration invokes for you, what details catch your eye, and consider why you might be affected by it in this way.
Then, to go deeper, if it’s helpful, contemplate each of the following questions, allowing time to fully answer each one:
The long, long night. Have you suffered the long, long night when you don’t know to what you’ll awaken? Will it be bad news and the world will never be the same? Or will it be good news and the world can keep turning as it always has? Does the light of the moon reveal anything to you? Or is the only thing you can do is to be patient, to wait, to sleep? Is God there with you even in your sleeping? Do you hear the whispers of “Never Give Up”? Tonight, say a bedtime prayer that asks that God’s will be done, and sleep peacefully until the tomorrow when God will show you what that will is.
