As we continue on our journey through the Lenten wilderness, follow Jesus as he lives his 40 days in the desert.
Be open to what emotions today’s illustration invokes for you, what details catch your eye, and consider why you might be affected by it in this way.
Then, to go deeper, if it’s helpful, contemplate each of the following questions, allowing time to fully answer each one:
A cave can be scary or a cave can be refuge. Have you had a time you were afraid or ill or alone and you found a place of refuge? How did it feel? Was it cool from the heat or warmth from the cold? Did you feel totally safe or were there still pieces of doubt even in that place? Has anyone in particular ever been your refuge? Has God been your refuge? Does a safe place help you Never Give Up? Find a quiet and still place at some point today and bask in the quiet safety of it, thanking God for such safe harbours.
