As we continue on our journey through the Lenten wilderness, follow Jesus as he lives his 40 days in the desert.
Be open to what emotions today’s illustration invokes for you, what details catch your eye, and consider why you might be affected by it in this way.
Then, to go deeper, if it’s helpful, contemplate each of the following questions, allowing time to fully answer each one:
“And the angels attended him.” Isn’t it exhausting to be on such a journey – to stand up to temptation – to do the right thing sometimes? Aren’t wilderness times enough without temptations along the way? Do you feel the sense of reward and accomplishment, though, that comes at the end? Can you celebrate your accomplishments? Can you rest in knowing you’ve completed the test? Does knowing Jesus’ journey ended with a cross for your sake help you? Take in Good Friday worship today and know that you, too, have carried your cross and endured.
