As we continue on our journey through the Lenten wilderness, follow Jesus as he lives his 40 days in the desert. Be open to what emotions today’s illustration invokes for you, what details catch your eye, and consider why you might be affected by it in this way.

Then, to go deeper, if it’s helpful, contemplate each of the following questions, allowing time to fully answer each one:

Down on all fours. When have you laid prostrate before God? When you were sick? When you were depressed? When you felt you had next to nothing left to give? What pulled you back up to your feet? Were there people who helped? Who can you turn to when times are so hard? Do you fully believe ‘God is with us – we are not alone’? Is that how you Never Give Up? Today, even if it feels silly, try laying down before God and just be in God’s presence, taking note of your breathing, your senses, and open your thoughts to God.
